If you are feeling nervous about walking into your first boxing or group fitness class, here is the short version. At Adiyoga in Earlwood, beginners are welcome, every class is scaled to your ability, and you do not need any experience or your own equipment to start. You are welcome to come in for a first class and a relaxed chat, so you can see how it feels before you commit to anything.

Do I need any experience?

No. Most people who walk through our doors at 104 Bayview Avenue have never boxed or trained in a group setting before, and that is completely normal. Our trainers scale the work to suit you, whether that means slowing the pace, adjusting the movements, or simply keeping an eye on your technique. You set the intensity, and we help you build from there.

We are a small, supportive studio, not a crowded gym floor. That means you are not going to get lost at the back of a room. Someone will know your name and check in with how you are going.

What happens in a boxing class?

A boxing class at Adiyoga is mostly pad work and technique. You learn how to throw a clean punch, how to move your feet, and how to combine the two, which does more for your coordination and fitness than most people expect. It is a genuine workout, but it is broken down step by step so you can follow along.

Sparring is optional and never a requirement. Plenty of people train with us for years and never spar. If you ever want to try it, that choice is yours and yours alone. Beginners are welcome from day one, and you will use our gear for your first session, so there is nothing you need to buy in advance.

Are the group classes beginner-friendly?

Yes. Our group fitness classes focus on functional fitness, the kind of movement that helps in everyday life, and they are designed to be approachable. We run sessions built specifically for women, and on Fridays we hold a "Stretch and Unwind" class for a slower, calmer end to the week.

Because the studio is small, the trainer leading your class can actually see you and offer adjustments in real time. If a movement does not suit you on a given day, there is always another option.

Who are the trainers?

You will be working with a small team who have spent years doing this. Sally is a certified Les Mills trainer who leads our high-energy group classes. Ramy, our founder, has been coaching for close to 20 years. Everything is scaled to your level, so you are in careful hands whether you are brand new or returning to training after time away. You can read more about the team on our about page.

If group settings are not your thing to begin with, we also offer one-on-one personal training, where the whole session is shaped around you.

What should I bring?

Keep it simple. Bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing and shoes you can move in. For boxing, you do not need to bring wraps or gloves to your first class, as we can sort that out on the day. If you have any injuries or health concerns, let us know when you arrive so we can adjust things for you.

How early should I arrive?

Arrive a few minutes early. That gives us time to welcome you, show you where things are, and have a quick chat about what you are hoping to get out of training. It also means you are not rushing in as the class starts, which helps settle any first-day nerves. If you want to confirm exact class times before you come in, contact us and we will let you know the current schedule.

What does a first visit actually feel like?

Here is how a typical first visit goes. You arrive, someone greets you at the door, and we spend a few minutes on your relaxed consultation, just talking through where you are at and what you want. There is no pressure and no hard sell.

From there, you join the session. It starts with a warm-up to get your body moving and your joints ready. Then comes the main work, whether that is pad rounds and footwork in boxing, or the functional movements in a group class. This is the part we scale to your ability. If something is too much, we dial it back. If you want more, we can add to it. You finish with a cool-down and some stretching, so you leave feeling worked but not wrecked.

Most people are surprised by how quickly the time passes and how much friendlier the room is than they imagined. Feeling out of breath or a bit clumsy on your first go is part of it. Everyone in that room started exactly there.

Ready to try it?

The best way to know if Adiyoga suits you is to come in and feel it for yourself. When you are ready, enquire with us and we will take it from there. Memberships start from $40 per week for unlimited classes, and we also offer a ten-class pack for $250, but there is no need to decide any of that before you have trained with us once.

We are here at 104 Bayview Avenue, Earlwood NSW 2206. Come as you are.
